About Dr Marisa Viegas MD MRCP
Dr Marisa Viegas was born in the Middle East of Portuguese Goan parents in 1957. She was educated in English public schools and received medical training at Westminster Medical School, London. During specialist training at London teaching hospitals she attained Membership of the Royal College of Physicians.
For fifteen years she ran her own highly successful private medical practice based in London where patients visited her from all over the world. Throughout this time she researched into and used many ‘complementary’ therapies including acupuncture, homeopathy and hypnotherapy.
By the end of 2001 she was practising alternative medicine in conjunction with mainstream medicine. In order to make sense of the relationship between apparently widely differing therapy systems she gave up her London practice to travel and research.
She has now developed an integrated model of healthcare, the Optimum Function system based on the principles of the three great ancient civilizations – that of the Chinese (Traditional Chinese Medicine), the Indians (Ayurveda) and the Egyptians (homeopathy based on the Hermetic philosophy).
Knowledge is perhaps one of the most life changing factors. Through the Optimum Function system of knowledge Dr Marisa Viegas aims to empower you to manage your own healthcare through a greater understanding of yourself.
